In their 10th birthday year, Surrey Brass joins forces with Chiswick Baroque and to present their ever-popular Carols By Candlelight in the Landmark Arts Centre, undoubtedly the most romantic Christmas concert venue in London.

The usual Christmas fare will be in abundance, with Christmas Fanfares, Carols for you to join in, Seasonal Readings, Old Favourites and New Tasters.

Mulled wine and Mince Pies at the interval complete the festive occasion.

The concert will feature many members of the ensemble past and present, and also guest conductors who have been influential in the development of the group. Musically the programme will show off what Surrey Brass does best - a varied and popular mixed programme of music with something to please everyone.

Surrey Brass, the innovative and entertaining brass ensemble, returns to St Peter's Church, Burwood Road, Hersham on 9th October to present a brilliant concert featuring Adrian Warren, organist of the church as guest soloist, in a programme that goes from Baroque to Rock. On the varied programme you'll find some music specially written for the group and it's soloists, great film music, and blatant show-off pieces for members of the group.

Surrey Brass is delighted to announce that Michael Chapple, a founder member of the ensemble, has been elected to the board of The International Trumpet Guild (ITG), a group of about 6000 trumpet players from around the world. Mike is a well known music teacher in Surrey and has become internationally famous by abusing a pink wig at ITG conferences around the world, most recently in Sydney, Australia. His presence at ITG gives the UK an important say in international brass music. Congratulations, Mike!

It's that time of year when young brass players flock together to learn new tunes and play them together in concert!  Brass Massive is the educational programme run by Surrey Brass and this year over 60 young players from Surrey County Arts will join in the event, with young players from elsewhere welcome to join in too.

Surrey Brass is delighted to welcome back international trumpet virtuoso Rex Richardson as soloist, who will perform the legendary "Rising Sun", one of the most challenging pieces in the trumpet repertoire. Anyone who has seen Rex before knows that he will make this show inspiring and fun. The concert will end with the legendary Mambo No.5 played by everyone (wow) and before that the young players will present a varied programme of music, supported by Surrey Brass who will play English music from 1650 and 1950.

The scores are in and following a hectic night of Mexican Brass Music, Guacamole and thanks to hard work by local charity fundraisers, the Elstead Sharks junior football team now have enough money to keep them going for several seasons to come.

Surrey Brass were delighted to be the entertainers at the event on 27th February in the Village Hall, Elstead, and the audience responded brilliantly to their innovative and entertaining "Trumpet X-Factor" contest which encouraged the audience to vote for their favourite performers, with each vote raising money for the charity. A very generous and large audience gave money in several other ways to help build up to the impressive final sum. And a great time was had by all, ending with dancing to the retro music of Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass which was a huge success in the 70's before the Beatles changed the face of pop music forever.

Surrey Brass return to the Third biennial Guildford Spring Music Festival, on Wednesday 24th March 2010 at the Electric Theatre, Guildford, performing "The Grand Tour",  featuring music which you might gather on an extremely long train journey or two. The concert includes a wide variety of styles to show the best features of the brass instrument family with a mix of old favourites and new, classical, jazz and blatant show-off pieces.

Surrey Brass present a programme of scorching Mexican music to blow those winter blues away. This repeat of the sold-out mexican night a couple of years back features a "Best Sombrero Competition" and a "Trumpet X-Factor" contest to help raise funds for Elstead Sharks junior football club.

As well as a great music show there will be a chance of a dance. Bring your own castanets! There will also be a licenced bar running throughout.

The event features an exhibition of artworks by local artists, and a concert by Surrey Brass featuring a range of popular music that you might hear on the radio. The exhibition will open at 6:00pm and the concert starts at 7:30pm. The musical programme will be conducted by Phil Singleton, and includes “The Flower Duet” by Delibes, made famous by its adoption as the British Airways theme tune, and also the rip-roaring “Sabre Dance” by Aram Katchaturian. Other music includes the jazzy “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square” featuring principal trombonist Michael Straker.

President of Woking Society of Arts, David Drury says, “Combining an exhibition with a concert is a new venture for us and we are delighted to be joining with Surrey Brass. We think crossover arts events like this give the audience the opportunity to enjoy, and also buy, the art, as well as listening to some great music”. About twenty local artists from Woking Society of Arts will be featuring watercolours and oils in an exhibition that may be viewed before the concert, at the interval, and afterwards. The Society was founded in 1943 and has about 200 members. They hold several exhibitions every year.
