Reeds School Christmas Carol Service
at 3pm Guildford Cathedral
Guildford Surrey
on 15th December 2002
Surrey
Brass is delighted to be joining with their hosts, Reeds
School, for the School Carol Service. This celebration includes the entire
student body of Reeds School, parents, old Reedonians, and the numerous
supporters of the school. In most years the service attracts a congregation of
well over a thousand people, filling the nave of Guildford Cathedral almost to
capacity - a very popular event!
The programme will contain a
mixture of traditional Christmas music, (including carols with audience),
Christmas Readings, music by Reeds students, and music for choir, brass and
organ.
Surrey Brass will play seasonal music and fanfares in partnership with the
Chapel Choir of Reeds School,
directed by Lindsay Macaulay.
Reed's Chapel Choir consists of up to 30 voices of all
ages, and it sings regularly in the School chapel, as well as giving many
concerts locally and in such venues as Guildford, Southwark and Arundel
Cathedrals, and Hampton Court Palace. Each year it joins forces with the
Reed's Choral Society, which includes parents, friends and staff, to perform a
major choral work. These have included Vivaldi's Gloria, Purcell's Te Deum and
Jubilate, Haydn's Requiem, and Carmina Burana at the Fairfield Hall Croydon with
the Young Musicians' Symphony Orchestra.
This service, held within the vast spaces of Surrey's
Cathedral, is a wonderful way to
join in Christmas celebrations for 2002.
