The innovative Surrey Brass Fanfare Contest attracted new music from nine local composers to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The contest was announced in the prestigious Classical Music Magazine, among many other places throughout Surrey. Fanfares were played on 25th May 2002 in a concert featuring Guest Soloist Hugh Davies. Surrey Brass presents a
Golden Jubilee Fanfare Contest
50 years and 4 months after the Accession
and 49 years after the Coronation.

The fanfare written by Bob Meldrum is playing in the background.

All composers living, working in, or having an association with Arts in Surrey were entitled to enter the Surrey Brass Golden Jubilee Fanfare Contest.

Music should be written in a grand style suitable for the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Fanfare should last no more than 2 minutes. Read the Official Press Release announcing the Contest. Are you a composer? Download the Jubilee Fanfare Contest Rules

The closing date for Entries was 1^st May 2002. Surrey Brass played and recorded all the entries at the Concert on 25th May 2002 and played them again at other events before during and after during the official Jubilee Weekend (1-4 June 2002).
