The TCM Brass Experience 2005.All brass students at TCM will be involved and take part in some way or form in this exciting project. Monday January 24th January 20052:30-5:30, Peacock Room, Trumpet Workshop with Rod Franks, Principal Tpt LSO. Rod will work on general tpt technique and style, plus a session on set orchestral repertoire. Approx 6 students will be chosen to perform in this class. These students will be expected to have prepared the orchestral repertoire and to perform a short solo work (or part of). The orchestral repertoire will be available from me at the very start of next term. Rod will also give a disability related lecture on his recent surgery and subsequent return to playing. 3:00-6:00, Theatre Studio, RPO Low Brass repertoire workshop. TCM trombones and tubas will join and play along with the RPO section on prepared and set orchestral repertoire. The orchestral repertoire will be available from me at the very start of next term. Tuesday January 25th January 2005Lunchtime Recital in the Chapel by Onyx Brass. Onyx will be augmented by a small number of TCM students to perform alongside them in arrangements of Tallis and Holst. The TCM students chosen to play will be notified direct by myself at the beginning of term and will be coached and prepared for their performance by Onyx Tubist, David Gordon Shute in the week prior to the concert Wednesday January 26th January 2005 5:00-8:00, Peacock Room.The prestigious Philip Jones Brass Chamber Prize. Please read the accompanying form and don't miss the deadline! This year the competition will be judged by Paul Archibald, who will also give a short solo recital prior to the final adjudication. The winning ensemble will also be expected to play in the next evening's Gala Concert in Blackheath. Thursday January 27th January 2005Lunchtime Concert, St Alfege's, Greenwich by TCM Trombones directed by Roger Harvey. Primary and secondary school trombonists from Lewisham Music Services will also join us.

Unfortunately it is a real bottle-neck in the rush hours. Train to Blackheath, turn right out of station & 2 min walk up hill to roundabout, and it's on your left. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, and a pub next to station and hall. |
