One of the "Brass Massive" events promoted by Surrey Brass to promote brass
playing by young people in Surrey, this event is very very special - it features
the finest Jazz Trombonist in the United Kingdom,
Mark Nightingale as
guest soloist!
As
well as leading his own quartet and Big Band, the Mark Nightingale trombone has
recently been heard with Cleo Laine and John Dankworth, Stan Tracey's Octet, the
Charlie Watts Ten-tet, the John Wilson Big Band, the Andy Panayi Quartet, the
Alan Barnes Nonet, Steely Dan, the Laurence Cottle Big Band and the Scott
Hamilton Sextet.
Preview Mark in action playing "What now my love" with no less than 20

Surrey Brass are most fortunate to have the support of Surrey County Arts in the
shape of Michael Chapple and two of his groups of young brass players, who are
all between the ages of seven and twelve and always contribute a huge amount of energy and enthusiasm to the
event. Brass Routes has members from the Guildford and Woking area, whilst
Pyrford Wider Opportunities Brass are local. About fifty young musicians are
scheduled to take part.
Note:
Although we anticipate to play the listed music, the musical programme may be subject to
change. Expect unprogrammed additions for your enjoyment!
