Programme
Surrey Brass
and their
Musical Director Tom Hammondpresent a
varied programme of music from around the world
including the First
Public Performance
of
"Concorde"
by
Rob Davies - the only thing fast
enough to go round the world in 80 minutes! The performance will be accompanied by a
live visual
presentation by Ashley Collins showing the history of this iconic aeroplane from
it's inception until the very last flight. An exciting new CD of the piece made
by the ensemble will also available at the concert.
In harmony with the Surrey Brass motto "innovative and
entertaining", this concert features another "first" - the first Brass Ensemble performance of
"Global
Variations" by
Nigel Hess, which
uses the chimes of Big
Ben to herald the start of a whistle-stop global journey – around the world in
just eight minutes. The programme starts with the "Radio
4 Theme" which was for years played at a very early hour on the BBC to
announce the beginning of services each day - and it contains music from
England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
As if that was not enough the programme also
features other music from England, France, Italy, Russia, Australia, America,
and Mexico! Truly something for everyone.
Great Britain's Military personnel serve all over the world. This concert is
on the eve of
Remembrance Day,
the 11th of November, and we will conclude our world tour with the
traditional music associated with this important day in our national calendar to
honour these brave people worldwide. A retiring collection will raise funds to support the
Royal Star and Garter
Homes for disabled ex-Service men and women. Volunteers will be in attendance at
the concert to provide information about the work of the Charity.
Note:
Although we anticipate to play the listed music,
the musical programme may be subject to
change. Expect unprogrammed additions for your enjoyment!
