Description
Express Train is a modern sounding piece for junior brass. It is written for a flexible brass ensemble ranging from a trumpet quartet up to a full brass band. The music represents a large express train as it slowly starts its journey from a station and travels across country and away into the distance. It is written in the style of the great minimalist composers such as John Adams or Philip Glass. The piece has extended chromatic harmony but has a restricted upper register. The range from bottom G up to C in that stave and the ability to be able to read quavers are required to play this piece
The piece was written for and performed by a junior brass ensemble under the direction of Robert Davies, an experienced brass teacher and composer.
