Surrey Brass Update

Dateline Feb 2021

Like just about every other performing group, performing has been out of the question for a while. We have been forced to postpone our tour to Gibraltar tour for a second year. But it looks like restrictions might finally lift over the coming months so preparations are underway for when they do.

Jamulus Banner. Links to getting started pageWe are working on getting together online, using Jamulus software. Jamulus is designed for high quality, low-latency sound, making it easy to play together remotely and in time. We have now got our own private server set up, and some early tests look promising. Starting with duets and perhaps quintets, we hope to work up some chops and rehearsal rules to allow us to scale up to a full rehearsal. This article will be updated with any experience we get.

What about concerts? It's still a bit early to tell for sure. We are optimistic about being able to perform our much loved Carols By Candlelight concerts at the Landmark again this Christmas, although they might not look exactly like the format we've delivered over the last 20 years. There is a possibility of a Sunday afternoon fundraiser at the Landmark in the summer too, although no date has been set yet. Other ideas are in the pipeline and we can't wait to announce them just as soon as they are confirmed! All up to date information is available in our Events diary.
