Phil became conductor of Surrey Brass for in 2009, following the fine contribution by Andy Grimwood in 2008.

Phil Singleton, MD Surrey BrassPhilip Singleton trained originally as a classical trumpet player at the University of Surrey, with Alastair Mackie of the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Philip is now in increasing demand as a conductor, and earlier this year he was appointed Music Director of Surrey Brass, with whom he is planning a series of major concerts.

Philip is also gaining recognition as a composer. He is co-founder, associate composer and conductor of Prometheus Contemporary Music Ensemble, which made its extremely successful debut at the Guildford International Music Festival in March 2009.

Philip is continuing his work in the field of jazz, and is currently working on his next commission, an extended work which will be performed at the 2009 Croydon Jazz Festival, by The Jazz Collective Orchestra.

In addition to his performing activities, Philip has a busy teaching schedule, and is a Tutor of Brass, Jazz Studies and Conducting at several well-respected schools and colleges.
