This website celebrates the life and work of
Cecil Milton Hepworth
He operated one of the very first movie companies in the UK, at the turn of the 19th century before Hollywood was born.
One of the most influential figures in early British film, and head of one of the earliest and most innovative film companies in the UK, Hepworth produced many important silent films from about 1899 until the Great Depression of the 1920's and the advent of the talkies forced the company to close.
His studios were at Walton on Thames, Surrey, England. Many local people have no idea Walton was the centre of a global film business a century ago.
Status
Work is now underway to modernise this site from the previous version at hepworthfilm.org and predecessors which operated for many years.
Redevelopment of this site may take some time as it is purely a labour of love on a very part time basis. Volunteers welcome!
